Starting a Successful Recycling Program with Midstates Recycling Services Print E-mail

Recycling with Midstates Recycling Services is easy.

Here's what you need to do to get started:

  • Select materials you would like to recycle: Determination of what types and quantities of materials are thrown away each day/week, and the alternative to disposal of those materials. Also, determine if you would benefit to including our document destruction services to your program. An insurance company generates different waste then a manufacturer. That's why your business should know what materials can be recycled before setting up the next plan of action.
  • Select an Office Recycling Coordinator: The Office Recycling Coordinator will be Midstates primary contact and will be responsible for overseeing the program within your office. This job doesn't take much time and will ensure that your recycle program stays on track. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about recycling, well organized, and a good communicator. They will be familiar with starting, overseeing and maintaining programs and serve as the liaison to Midstates Recycling Services along with the janitorial team. They would also be a good team leader if your company chooses to create a "green team" to help with the program.
  • Determine Storage and Equipment: Midstates' understands that not all offices are the same. That's why we offer you a choice of storage equipment for your paper.
  • Conduct an Office Survey: Go around your office and identify an area where you can store paper to be collected for recycling. Make sure this location is easily accessible for our transportation representative to wheel bins and get Gaylord boxes onto the truck without obstruction. If finding a suitable spot is difficult, call us and we can make alternative suggestions.
  • Post and distribute memos, signs, or other communication media: Keep your co-workers informed of the how's, why's and successes of the program. Midstates will provide signs and monthly tonnage and ecological report stating the totals of material recycled from your office and the positive effects it had on the environment. Everyone's participation is essential for a successful recycling program.
    • Collection, storage, and pick-up details.
    • Ask for feedback - questions, concerns, suggestions.
